No Troubles With Decoding, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 302

Essay

For readers who have no troubles with decoding, comprehension, ad retention of material, problems with reading seem unreal and exaggerated. Therefore, the person in whose mind the patterns and processes associated with reading have developed normally, will never be able to comprehend the genuine difficulties and challenges in reading for struggling readers. However, the exercises in decoding and retention difficulties have opened up the image of the text that struggling readers have, and which is completely unknown for normal readers.

After taking the test on decoding difficulties, one can fully realize how strong and stable the decoding patterns are in everyone’s mind. In case the analogues of conventional phonemes were learned to automatism, the reading patterns could be changed at the unconscious level, and even the list of analogues seeming weird for a usual reader would become the accustomed and traditional reading pattern after sufficient training. It seems that may coding and encryption schemes are based on changing the traditional reading and writing patterns to mislead the unauthorized readers. Hence, it seems that the patterns inconsistent with the rules of standard language studies can be highly challenging for struggling readers, equally challenging as understanding of their corrupted reading patterns can be for teachers and peers.

Next, the retention difficulty exercise offered for review showed how hard it is to retain information if it is scrambled, disappearing from visual sight, or simply vague. The present exercise in reading and answering the questions was also very challenging, and it proved that the human brain perceives reading both as parts and as a whole. Being unable to return to the previous line, and reviewing the paragraph after reading it complicates the process of answering the questions very much, posing certain pressure on the reader, and making it impossible to get the full conceptual image of the paragraph.
