Nursing: Performance Evaluation, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 272

Essay

Performance evaluation is a strategy created by management to assess whether employees are meeting criteria required for maximum success in the organization. For example, a registered nurse is expected to perform duties consistent with her qualifications and licensure to practice. Also, he/she must be cognizant of the specific goals governing practice within that particular health care institution andbecome aligned with them.

This is a self-performance evaluation. As such, in assessing myself I feel reliable, hardworking, trustworthy, and dependable. Essentially, I have the ability of accomplishing tasks and carrying through with whatever I started.  Besides, I am a lifelong learner; a people person; very professional and dedicated to achieving excellence.

Currently, I function asHead Nurse at a Plastic Surgery Clinic. My duties entail supervising staff; ensuring that patients are seen and surgeries scheduled appropriately. Also, I am responsible for stocking the clinic with equipment that doctors nee when examining patients.  Operating the AED machine at the Integrated Surgical services center (ISSC) is another task I love and cherish. These duties I feel capable of performing excellently and would give myself a 5 of 5 rating for these performance tasks.

Additionally, my ability to effectively balance work demands, anticipate, and overcome unforeseen obstacles in achieving optimum results in my organization is exceptional. In demonstrating clinical and technical competence, my advanced practice nursing roles inevitably surface. On these occasions Idemonstrate excellent communication skills with other members on my healthcare team, customers and patients.  Always opportunities are openfor me to articulate high standards of personal/professional conduct. These include maintaining required licensure, certifications; mandatory training requirements  and going the beyond the call of duty to satisfy goals in my organization.
