Nursing Science and Evidence-Based Practice, Coursework Example

The continued emergence of change within the healthcare system has been instrumental in shaping how practice environments respond to new and unique challenges. This process requires an understanding of factors such as evidence-based practice and the demands of patient care (Currie, 2010). There must be a greater emphasis on achieving greater quality of care and in supporting an environment where patient needs are achieved through the integration of evidence-based practice into this process (Tymkow, 2014). It is imperative that nurses are able to effectively respond to change and to be mindful of the issues that influence patient care quality, including cost considerations, satisfaction rates, and other issues that influence quality of care in different ways (Titler, 2011). There must be a greater emphasis on the development of new perspectives to improve the integration of evidence-based practice to improve outcomes.

Evidence-based practice must be able to demonstrate a high level of understanding and acceptance of new ideas and procedures that will positively impact patient care (Spruce, 2015). This reflects the importance of shaping a dynamic that is likely to support change as warranted and to provide another element of quality that might not have otherwise existed. From a leadership perspective, it is necessary to provide support for evidence-based practice in many areas, including the adoption of a chronic care model that will impact patients who suffer from HIV/AIDS. This requires a number of elements that will influence outcomes and demonstrate an ability to recognize that prior evidence may be useful in supporting the demands of the practice setting, while also considering other factors that will improve quality of care for these patients and to prolong their lives. There must be a delicate balance in place that will emphasize the importance of evidence-based solutions in support of the chronic care model and to be mindful of the changes that must be addressed to influence change and improved quality of life in this regard.
