Essay

I believe New York has great potential in making me into the individual I wish to become in the near future. I have always heard that New York is the place where dreams are either made or crushed. With this kind of mentality, I have high aspirations that I will someday be able to matriculate into New York University in order to maximize both my opportunities and chances at becoming a more well-rounded individual. Not only that, but I also look forward to being surrounded by individuals who are intellectually stimulating.

I am a firm believer that one should always surround yourself with individuals who push one to make positive changes in one’s community. I believe that at New York University, I would be given the unique opportunity of interacting with individuals who would support my public speaking skills and would prompt me to developing them even further. Furthermore, I look forward to being a student at the university in hopes of being able to be introduced to a wide variety of topics that I can question and someday ultimately make an impact on. I have always been one to advocate for those who do not have the necessary resources to speak for themselves, and because of that, I am looking forward to becoming a student at New York University so that I am able to learn about the world around me and learn about what kind of changes can be made in order to improve society for the better. I am cognizant of the actuality that I may not be able to individually change the lives of the majority of people, but as long as I am able to make a significant contribution to at least one individual throughout my life, I know that my life will have been a successful one at that.

Being offered the opportunity to attain my education at one of the highest-ranking facilities in the world would be an honor. Today, I see myself as someone who can change the world with the power of my voice. At New York University, I would constantly question professors on the howand whythings work. Not only that but I plan to undertake courses that are able to fully satisfy my quest in understand the kinds of impacts that can be made through public speaking. Throughout the efforts that I have made in the college search, I have found that New York University would be the perfect fit in order for me to be able to unlock my full potential in regards to public speaking. At the university, I look forward to taking courses such as MCC-UE 1805 (Public Speaking) and learning from world-renowned professors such as Professor Julia Evergreen Keefer, Valerie Purdie-Vaughns, Kenji Yoshino.

By taking these types of classes offered by the university, I would be able to fit my needs so that I am able to fulfill my curious mind. There is not a doubt in my mind that I am able to do incredible things in this world; all I need is the proper guidance, and I know that New York University will invariably be able to take me to where I want to be. I want New York University to be described as my alma mater within a few years so that when a positive change is someday instigated by me, I can confidently say that I could not have made it without the help of the university. Gaining acceptance into New York University would serve as nothing more than a complete honor. Upon acceptance, I would immediately start looking for opportunities that I can partake in in order to serve the community that has afforded me with so many possibilities in previous years.
