Better Access to Health Insurance Programs Empowers People to Leave their Jobs and Establish New Small Personal Businesses: Is this a Good or Bad News?

Part 1: Introduction and Summary of Article

The article chosen to be analyzed in this discussion was written by Stephanie O’Neill and was posted last April 29, 2014 for the NPR website. The website in itself generates discussion articles that are focused on the current issues regarding America’s most compelling economic systems that directly affect the lives of the people. At present, the most common, and perhaps the most controversial issue in the American economic system is the emergence of the renewed healthcare support operations in the country. The Obamacare programs launched under President Obama’s administration presents how much the current administration wants to support the needs of the people through giving hem accessible and specifically reasonable healthcare policies that they could depend upon.

The article by O’Neill tries to give a specifically visual picture of what the Obamacare has done so far to reshape the American economic system especially in relation to how people viewed their jobs and finding good ways of determining a better path of economic development for the people to take into account. In the article, O’Neill entails her readers through bringing to them some of the most common concepts of personal economic thinking that the people have developed in relation to the emergence of the healthcare programs presented by the Obama administration.

Bringing in personal experiences into the picture, O’Neill tried to represent a message that her readers will directly e able to relate based on their own concept of understanding the balance between work, health and economic freedom. People presented in her article specifically came from one specific condition of work towards another different aspect of earning money. Most of the individuals interviewed had their own jobs; they do prefer being specifically employed because of the fact that their positions in the companies they work for allow them to pay for their bills and other common expenses while also securing that all too important source of insurance for the sake of protecting their health.

However, as the Obamacare program came to light, there are those who realized that with such support from the government, they would be able to quit their jobs and live a life that is grounded on freedom; the will and capacity to do what they can do without fearing that when emergency comes, there would be nothing they could use for the expenses that need to be paid, these individuals would of course want to take the better option that life, in this case, the government offers. Notably, in several states, people are being given the option to live better lives through enrolling in more believable and more practical policies of healthcare insurances that could protect them at a much lower cost that even they themselves could pay for. It seemed that lowering the monthly fees was a specifically reasonable step towards empowering the people become more involved in the concept of protecting themselves through a common program that allows them to live under a much freer situation while being fully protected accordingly.

Relatively, this healthcare insurance option specifically got people interested in the idea of being enrolled in the programs by themselves. It was seemingly obvious how they wanted to get the benefits of what the program has to offer them with especially in allowing them to live the kind of life they want to experience. Something different from being pressured to go to work from eight to twelve hours a day and one day off per week; anything to get them out of such a routine while assuring them a sense of protection and continuous support for matters that are important for them and their family as their health would likely get them off their current job positions and up to the kind of life that they want.

However, while these individuals are able to take on the chance to develop their own new lives the way they like to, there is another sector of the American economy that suffers; the business industries. The organizations where the people are working for are losing their edge and are gaining more competitions in the market as their past employees have already decided to take on the challenge of developing their own businesses. In this case, the business owners where they have once worked for need to specifically step up to the plate and make sure that they are ready for the competition to take over. Hence, adjustments are expected to happen in the system of the said business organization. Notably, it could be considered that somehow, such adjustments are bound to take a distinct impact on how businesses are to redefine the form of their operation. With regards the real value of this specific turn of situations, it is actually being measured whether or not such change of situations actually affect the overall operation of the economic progression in the United States in either a positive or negative manner.

Part 2: Theory Review and Analysis

The Keynesian theory of macroeconomics specifically determines the condition by which the inefficiency of particular private sectors to control the situation comes into account and how the power is given back to the public sectors. When situations and elements intervene in the condition of development that the economy takes into full account, it could not be denied that changes happen and the value of economy takes on a different path as well. The Keynesian theory supports the idea that with the emergence and application of specific interventions, several events will happen that will affect the economy under a chained reaction.

For instance, in consideration with the healthcare insurance needs of the people, the emergence of programs that is supported through employment, people who wanted to gain proper protection from their employers become specifically directed towards the desire to undergo connection especially when it comes to remaining loyal to their positions and the tasks that are assigned for them to complete. One of the primary motivations that employees get from their employers and their job positions is the fact that they need something to hold on to, to depend upon especially when it comes to making a distinct impact on how they are going to protect themselves and their families especially in relation to determining their healthcare security. Given this motivation, the employees do what they could to make sure that they remain in their jobs especially when it comes to finding favor in the eyes of their employers. This motivation often results to better performance especially when it comes to determining the ways by which the outcome of such performance affects the position of the businesses in the industry.

What constitutes good work and determinable development among employees is the motivation they get from the benefits they are able to gain from the employment that they are aiming to protect. In turn, the business organizations gain so much from the aspects of development that their people take into account. Most likely, it is from these forms of performance outputs that the companies get the best out of everything that they put forward towards the determination of how they are going to empower their employees to do their best and provide great results as expected. The employment they given their people is what makes them able to control the situation and make sure that their employees actually do their job as desired by the company.

When such control and motivation is lost, the manner by which the employees view their job changes accordingly. Notably, such change in behavior shall redefine the path that employees take into account. Once given a better choice, they would of course choose to be free from working obligations that they have to attend to in regular manner. The companies in turn need to alter the situation through gaining employees that could fill up the vacated positions. Competition in the market becomes tougher with the emergence of new smaller business organizations that spur out from the past employees of the business groups. These changes affect the macroeconomic systems of a nation the nation in two distinct conditions. One is dependent on the more positive side of matters which include the creation of more definite work opportunities for the people in the community. Given that there are also smaller organizations spurring out from the said change, more work options are sure to be developed. On the other hand, the more negative aspect of change that this scenario imposes is the chance by which the human force of the business organizations would become weaker as retraining due to fast employee turnaround occurs. Retaining stronger employees who have been trained and taught by the company for many years end up giving up their positions and creating their own personal job opportunities becomes a hard part of the overall responsibility of business organizations that have no choice but to release their employees due to some change in decision and perception in life.

Having smaller clusters of organization in a community is considered under the Keynesian theory to be a strong character of a thriving economy. The contribution of each small unit creates a rather larger impact on the overall condition of the industry. Given that each of these organizations [both big and small] has different products and services to offer the market with, it is expected that their existence would be bound to improve the current GDP rate of the nation. Question is, would the smaller spurring organizations actually yield good results as expected? Will all those who have left their job posts for an early retirement actually join into the bandwagon of establishing their own personal business entities? These inquiries intend to question the general equilibrium of the entire economy as it faces specific threats to competition and supportive solutions towards unemployment.

Apparently, offering a new option for workers to take into account, especially towards determining their position and their capacity to protect the people they love ought to serve as a reward for a job well-done. Obama’s administration specifically wants to do away with the idea of having lower business yields due to having employees who are not capable of doing their job because of their health status. The lessening of the cost spent on healthcare problems among employees is specifically given attention to by the Obama administration. At present, the Obama care supports the need of people to access good healthcare services through the provisions of insurance that the government offers. Such as stand could be considered effective in relation supporting the needs of the people; however, it is also because of this matter that some business organizations realize the possibility of losing their best players in the field and gradually lose power to determine their position in the competition that they are engaged in thus rendering their businesses drop from above average performers to lower than average organizations. Of course, there is always a good and bad side of everything and the Obamacare program is not an exception.

Part 3: Personal Opinion

While the Obamacare targets to provide the people with the healthcare support that they require, there is something else that the program was able to affect and that is the perception of the people towards work. Triggering the possibility of majority of the people leaving their work posts and deciding to create their own companies to be able prosper for themselves and not for the companies they were working for, the Obamacare system of application binds the people in to an idea of developing the most ideal life they would want to live with.

Whether or not this approach is helpful in determining the standing of the country’s economy, the result would largely depend on how much the people are able to manage the situation and how the business organizations are able to adjust to the situation accordingly. Healthcare, being one of the most expensive elements of survival, is indeed considered as an important aspect of life that ought to be given attention to, if not protected fully. Redeveloping the attitude of the people towards a new sense of determining control over their lives has made the Obamacare the epitome of freedom for many long time workers for them to find their own way and be more responsible for themselves instead of simply working for others and completing errands just for the sake of retaining the integrity of their insurance plans dedicated to healthcare attention.

Personally, the Obamacare, like other programs created and directed towards the public for them to gain such provision, has its pros and cons. In connection to the elements of macroeconomics, the Obamacare supports the lifestyle of the once at the lower edge of the economy. Question is, would it also be able to protect the rights and values of the ones who are at the top list of those imposing development in the country, the businessmen and investors? Through observation, it could be understood that the higher number of people leaving their job posts and settling for something much more free and much more enjoyable for them notes the distinct fact that the Obamacare has already began to change the attitude of employees towards the concept of being employed and being provided for by their employees under a pre-determined income that would be used to support programs they are enrolled in like that of a healthcare insurance for the family.

Removing the pressure from the thoughts of the employees with regards the way they are going to protect their families and themselves from the high costs of healthcare, these individuals gain more freedom to think of something new, something more they could work one, something they could actually call ‘theirs’. Looking at the situation in a larger context, such change could help the economy at a larger scale as the cluster of smaller business organizations could help boost the integrity and the capacity of the economy to produce profit from operations. Nevertheless, the business owners from where the [retiring] employees come from must be able to seek more effective ways to make sure that they are going to be ready to face competitions in the market and retain their position as primary players in the market.

Part 4: Conclusion

The idea of the ripple-effect is true even when it comes to the analysis of the macroeconomic systems defining a particular nation’s operation towards economic prosperity. Considerably, through this idea, people and institutions as well as the government are expected to have a chained reaction towards each other thus determining the reaction of one towards the action of the other. In the discussion presented herein, the motivation of the government to provide good healthcare investment and insurance for the common people triggered both negative and positive impacts in the economy of the United States. Relatively, through managing through these situations, the results could still be considered evidently helpful in the process of determining the role of the program towards assisting the nation into engaging in a much prosperous and stronger society.

Part 5: Graphs and Presentations

Based from this diagram, the Obamacare causes the lower rate of unemployment, increased number of smaller organizations and increased number of retirees; all of which have a distinct impact on how the national economy performs.
