Essay

I was invited to a graduate information workshop through an e- newsletter, providing me with a unique registration link to enroll. After registering online, I also received daily reminders about the workshops, and contact information, such as a map of the location and starting times were included.

I arrived to the building before the workshop started, and their was a young lady who was waiting for the workshop participants. She checked names in her list and gave us a folder containing information about what we would discuss in the workshop.

The workshop started on time. There was a lady in a formal suit and another one formally dressed.  There were 11 people attending the workshops: 6 Women and 4 men. The presenter started the workshop by introducing herself, then the other presenter, who was a specialist in FAU financial AID took over. She was using a power point presentation to help participants better understand the concepts. Next, the other lady presented her part, and in the end she started to take questions from the audience. She talked for about 10 minutes before she left and let the first presenter continue her presentation. In each step of her presentation, she reminded the audience of their folders, which has a specific information about what she talking about.

After 13 minutes,  4 more people came: two women and two men, but they didn’t have the folders (I believe the young lady left already). But the presenter was handing out some extra folders for those who asked her for some. Some of them were dressed formal, while others had a casual look. Every person who arrived after me came alone, except for one man who came with an old lady (I believe she was his mother). The presenter tried to engage with the audience by asking them about their test preparation as GRE, SAT…etc. experience.

The workshop classroom was well prepared. There was a table with brochures and pamphlets about different FAU departments and major options. There was also a big stand that showed images of FAU students and facilities.
