Essay

How will winning this scholarship help you attain your goals?

The College Jump Start Scholarship will provide me a path to college that may not be affordable for my family. In large families, sacrifices must be made in order for all the siblings to attend college. Many times other siblings make sacrifices not to attend college so others can afford the opportunity. I will stand down for the next family to be able to move forward that have a more dire need. However, that is not my only goal and reason for wanting the scholarship. The College Jump Start Scholarship will help me as a person. I have lacked the confidence while achieving excellent grades, however, the confidence to apply to college is a somewhat scary and the rejections further hurt my confidence after receiving non-acceptance.

My personal goals are to learn how to become a better writer and journalist. I have average writing capabilities; however, attending college will help me reach my goal of becoming a journalist or a professional writer. There are not many schools that just teach you writing but there are many self-help writer books. However, I know that I learn better interacting with a teacher while feeling, touching, and seeing the material. I believe the College Jump Scholarship with open closed doors not possible in my life without some scholarship assistance. I will continue to apply for scholarships hoping to be given at least one. However, the College Jump Start Scholarship will he me achieve a personal and family goal to obtain a college degree.
