Organ Interaction, Research Paper Example

Research Paper

There are three important human organ systems – Circulatory, Respiratory and Endocrine.  Each of these work together in order to form the functions of the body.  Organs function as part of a group in the body, it is this organisation which forms the study of medicine and planned treatment for illness. ” Through communication, the body keeps itself in balance—a concept called homeostasis. Through homeostasis, organs neither under work nor overwork, and each organ facilitates the functions of every other organ.”  (Beers, 2006).

The cardiovascular system is responsible for pumping and circulating blood throughout the body. This system includes ” the stomach, small intestine, and large intestine, which move and absorb food, but associated organs such as the pancreas, liver, and gallbladder, which produce digestive enzymes, remove toxins, and store substances necessary for digestion.”  (Beers, 2006).  The body has an additional group of organs called the endrocrine system that produce hormones which regulate the functions of other organs. The thyroid gland is an example that produces thyroid hormone in order to control metabolic rate.

Most people are most aware of the function of the organs contained within the digestive system as these are the most visible on a daily basis ” The digestive process is aided by accessory organs, the salivary glands, liver, gallbladder and pancreas. These prepare the nutrients in food for absorption by body cells. Waste molecules, from which nutrients have been separated, are then eliminated from the body with the help of the related excretory system.” (Olberding, 2009).

The nervous system contains the main organ of the body i.e. the brain and is the control centre of our body ” The major human organ in the nervous system is the brain, which sends and receives information through accessory organs, the spinal cord and lesser ganglia.” (Olberding, 2009)
