Essay

In your opinion, do you think organizational outcomes relate at all to employee-related outcomes? Is the possibility there to achieve one set of outcomes without the other? Why or why not?

Organizational and employee-related outcomes are interconnected. An organization’s success depends on having a strong identity to help its employees understand its mission, goals, and culture. Employees are dependent on a strong organization for not only for a place to work, but also for its ability to provide good benefits, compensation, and other human resource amenities that make for a more pleasant working environment. Just as employees need to work at a good organization, a company depends on its employees to ensure its success.High job satisfaction increases the productivity of employees and helps to increase the likelihood of their retention. A high turnover of employees costs organizations both time and money due to recruitment, hiring, and training. It is possible for an organization to achieve its desired outcomes without consideration for employees. However, this type of organization would be driven by fear and may not yield the best performance from its employees. If employees are not satisfied with their company, then they would be less likely to show loyalty and remain in the company.Employees must be respectful of the organization in which they work in order to sustain their place of employment. The best work environment is balanced where both needs of the organization and its employees are honored.

It has become known that organizations are now using teams as part of their high-performance work system. Could this approach be useful in an organization that does not use teams? Should any special concerns be addressed?

High-performance teams are becoming commonly used in organizations. These teams consist of workers with specialized skills and assignments, and help to improve cohesiveness and better develop new ideas. Organizations which are not accustomed to working in teams may find this to be a difficult transition.Employees must be able to voice their concerns and be comfortable with their new work environments. Concern must be taken for employees who are more introverted, because it would be unfortunate to penalize a shy individual for not acclimating to a group environment. Training sessions should be implemented to teach employees how to most effectively work in teams.
