Essay

Dear Editor.

Let me start by commending the excellent work that your paper has been doing. In the light of the services, your paper has offered to the public in general, more so informing and bringing into surface especially the issues that affect the general citizenry, we sincerely appreciate.

On that note, my main purpose of writing to your paper is to express my concerns to the government about a pressing issue. I recently assumed the management of a small restaurant called ‘Wishes’, which I also happen to be the owner. ‘Wishes’ has its location at the shores of the ever cool Malta beach. However, the business is not as cool as such because, under the might of popular hotels, we are just like shadows to them. Madame Editor, not that we as small restaurants are not putting in much effort, but it is because we feel that the government is not supportive to our course. I am, therefore, mandated by the task at hand, to write to you since you are the only platform that can voice my concerns.

Malta beach is the source of living over here. The Government also derives lots of income from it and therefore, it should be at the front run in safeguarding its image. Situated in a vantage position which overlooks the blue horizon, Malibu has been a destination for everyone in the recent past, but lately, tourists and travelers have shied away from it. The surrounding environment explains this trend. Infrastructure and security are in question, and I would like to ask the government to address the issue.

The one other pressing issue is the taxes imposed to tourists. These taxes should be within reasonable units and unless we address this, we risk being a tourist desert.

Lastly, I would like the government to promote sporting events around this place. In this case, the beach will gain publicity and businesses will flourish too. If you get to give this letter a space in your column, then it will be a great justice to us.

Thank you.
