Research Paper

The course of Security management is one that provides an essential introduction to the key techniques, ideas and issues found at the core of professional security management. It is an accredited program, which provides a thorough understanding on how to manage security within an organization. Based on my views, the most compelling topics in this course include information technology outsourcing and the risk cube analysis. The IT outsourcing topic educates one on how the strategy reduces or enhances an organization’s ability to provide authenticity to its security program (Beulen & Ribbers, 2011). The topic on risk cube analysis discusses on the importance of risk cube in categorizing security risks within an organization (Sweet, Seymour & Biemer, 2011). This was very informative as it explained all the domains of a risk cube, which were identified to be probability, duration and outcome.

Participating in discussions on the study topic via discussions boards has been tremendously beneficial strategies in enabling me understand the subject matter of the topic. Participating in these discussions has enhanced my learning experience since I could compare my views and opinions regarding the subject matter to those of other students. In addition, I learned from the points generated by other students, which I had not considered before while studying.  The discussions also helped me prepare for exams since one could freely ask questions and have them answered through different views. The postings in the discussion board enable an individual to know whether they are on the right direction as they can compare their views and identify the differences and similarities.

A similar approach that could yield additional valuable information would include researching form the internet and reading scholarly articles regarding the subject matter. The internet provides different views regarding different matters from different people all around the world. Therefore, researching from it would enable one obtain the relevant additional information. Scholarly articles usually provide information relating to academic researches and topics. It is one of the reliable sources to obtain information and data.
