Communication through conversations entails a significant way of passing a message from one individual to another. There are various personality traits that influence the type of conversations that take place in a given scenario. Conversations on over the phone entail vital ones that take place in the current world due to the existence of digital generations. The results on the neuroticism forget significantly indicated that the respondents do not actually enjoy new experiences at 28.6 percent. In terms of the conscitiousness study, the findings indicate that the respondents are moderate (28.6%). A correlational on conscitiousness study and neuroticism forget indicates that there is a relationship between the two variables. Analysis of variance showed Extraversion social by openness text, F (2, 67) = 0.583, p = .005, ?p 2 = .010. This is at a significance level of 1, according to the findings on extraversion social. The respondents indicated that they are open to sharing information at 47%. From the findings, a significant number of respondents indicated text openness (62.9%). Introduction
Psychology plays a critical role in how people are relating to one another. This is owing to the type of information that is relayed from one person to another (Abraham, Hua Jiang, Snášel, and Pan, 2015). This is through various platforms that are present. They greatly influence the youth talks and behavior of a people.
Conversations are important in society. They are shapers of how we can develop our thought process (Amichai-Hamburger, 2013). Kill boredom when we are with our friends, relatives, social circles, classmates, and colleagues at work. They are vital aspects of making the world appear more credible. It is a more fun approach to entertain and pass out information from one platform to another.
Problem statement
In the contemporary world, the youth engage in talks on social media platforms. These include Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter, and Telegram. On these platforms, one would find people that have different personality traits (Blokdyk, 2020). This is owing to the conversations that are developed. This is owing to the nature of the conversation that is present. Furthermore, they influence one another to make a certain type of act.
From previous studies on messaging amongst the youth. The conversations that they usually have on social media platforms are not value building (Widiger, 2017). For instance, the female gender is affected by the type of conversations that are present. They are more affected in terms of cyberbullying. They usually post their pictures, and people comment on it. The habits are seen to have a positive and negative effect on the population.
Main objective
The study was to investigate the relationships between phone texting and big five personality traits.
Hypotheses
- There is a relationship between phone texting and big five personality traits.
- There is no relationship between phone texting and the big five personality traits.
This was achieved by looking at the following variables; neuroticism forgets, conscitiousness study, extraversion social, and openness text.
Participants
The study consisted of 69 university students enrolled in the course PSYC 2250 – Introduction to Psychological Research Methods at the University of Manitoba. The study involved male (28) and female (40) participants. The participants were aged between 19 to 35 years. They were a youthful population (Blokdyk, 2020). Some questions were, however, not answered.
Materials and Procedure
The study used both primary and secondary techniques for data collection. The study made use of correlational research design (Widiger, 2017). The data collection was through the use of a questionnaire. Scale data was utilized in the study from 1 -3 and 1 -5. It was perceived as the primary method of collecting data. Also, secondary data was obtained from scholarly literature.
They were from the academic institution. The sample population that was obtained for the study was seventy participants. The study made use of the null and alternative hypothesis.
The data was analyzed using SPSS version 25. Statistical analysis was achieved through descriptive, correlation, and one-way ANOVA. This was measured using scale data 1 to 3 and 1 – 5. The variables analyzed included (neuroticism forget, conscitiousness study, extraversion social – 1 – 5), and openness text (1 to 3).
Results
Table 1:Neuroticism Forget
Percent | ||
Very open | 5.7 | |
Open | 17.1 | |
Moderate | 30.0 | |
Not open | 17.1 | |
I don’t enjoy new experiences | 28.6
Total | 98.6 | |

The results on the neuroticism forget significantly indicated that the respondents do not actually enjoy new experiences at 28.6 percent. The least was the very open people when it comes to messaging on platforms at 17.1 percent. This indicates that people that have access to these platforms are highly conservative. This is owing to the type of information that is shared on the platform.
Table 2: Conscitiousness Study
Percent | ||
Very open | 8.6 | |
Open | 21.4 | |
Moderate | 28.6 | |
Not open | 27.1 | |
I don’t enjoy new experiences | 11.4
Total | 97.1 | |
In terms of the conscitiousness study, the findings indicate that the respondents are moderate (28.6%). This is owing to the type of information that is shared from the platform. The respondents nevertheless remain conservative on the aspect of conscitiousness. Nevertheless, the majority of the respondents have indicated that they are conscious when carrying out activities.
Table 3: Correlational on Conscitiousness study and neuroticism forget

N | 69 | 68 | |
Conscitiousness Study | Pearson Correlation | .021 | 1 |
Sig. (2-tailed) | .863 | ||
N | 68 | 68 |
A Pearson correlational analysis was used to analyze the association between conscitiousness study and neuroticism forget indicates that there is a relationship between the two variables. This is at a significance level of r = (1), p = (0.05). It indicates that the respondents are conscious when they are chatting on various social media platforms and messaging platforms.

Discussion
According to the results, we accept the alternative hypothesis and reject the null hypothesis. Therefore, there is a relationship between phone texting and big five personality traits. This is owing to the various relationships that the youth have together.
Conversations surrounding social media and messaging platforms have an influence on the population. This is owing to the type of responses that the users of social messaging platforms have in place. They influence one another.
The study is in agreement with Amichai-Hamburger (2013); conversations are important in society. They are shapers of how we can develop our thought process. They kill boredom when we are with our friends, relatives, social circles, classmates, and colleagues at work. They are vital aspects of making the world appear more credible. It is a more fun approach to entertain and pass out information from one platform to another.
The study concurs with Abraham, Hua Jiang, Snášel, and Pan (2015); psychology plays a critical role in how people are relating to one another. This is owing to the type of information that is relayed from one person to another. This is through various platforms that are present. They greatly influence the youth talks and behavior of a people. The respondents appear to be following the conversations from time to time. Nevertheless, their rate of concentration appears to be low.
According to Blokdyk (2020), in the contemporary world, the youth engage in talks on social media platforms. These include Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter, and Telegram. On these platforms, one would find people that have different personality traits. Furthermore, Widiger (2017), from previous studies on messaging amongst the youth; states that conversations that they have on social media platforms are not value building. Therefore, it is not a matter of forgetting the information but creating open channels in which they engage in conversations.
