Plan for Maslow Hierarchy of Needs, Essay Example

Pages: 3

Words: 832

Essay

As far as security needs are concerned in the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, my goal is to become a competent ultrasound technician. To achieve my goal, I need to get a formal education and then obtain specialized training. My obligation is to take my studies seriously and stay in touch with the emerging trends because in today’s competitive environment, continuous learning is an essential requirement of success. This is why I have been currently pursuing an associate degree and later plan to transfer to a Kaiser program. I also talk to ultrasound technicians from time to time to benefit from their experience and seek guidance. I have also been keeping my eyes open for potential internship opportunities because nothing can replace the learning gained through actual experience. I believe the eventual outcome of all of my efforts will be a successful career as an ultrasound technician who will also be a leader to other aspiring health professionals. Life has taught me to successfully survive difficult times and as a result, I have also become skilled at understanding others’ emotions and feelings. This is why I have strong people skills and will be able to positively influence others.

As far as love and belonging in the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs are concerned, I want to be the best mom in the world to my fifteen year old stepson and four year old daughter. I also want to be the best daughter to a brave mother who is currently battling breast cancer for the second time. I also realize that love for my children requires me to understand their needs and children always benefit from a stable family environment. This is why I eventually see myself getting married to the father of my daughter. My family dreams have been inspired by the successful marriage of my parents who are still together and provided a loving family environment to me and my three siblings. To achieve my goals at this level in Maslow’s Hierarchy, I will have to accept the shortcomings of my daughter’s father because my parents have taught me successful relationships are always the outcome of mutual respect and compromise. I will also work hard so that I can provide the best care to my children and set money aside for their college. I have already been taking care of my mother and will continue to do so. My parents took good care of me and they return the same treatment in return. Similarly, I should also provide the same childhood to my children that I was lucky to have. I am positive I will have a loving family life and my parents will be proud of me. I already know my mom consider me an ideal daughter.

The next level is self-esteem in Maslow’s Hierarchy. I want to be recognized at my job for my leadership skills and technical expertise. I also want to be respected by my children in the future and be loved by the father of my daughter for being a caring and understanding individual. This is why I have decided to deal with everything in life to ensure that my troubles do not affect my children. I have also being respectful towards the father of my daughter and help him from time to time despite the fact that I am already dealing with numerous responsibilities single-handedly. I believe I will be able to positively influence the father of my daughter and change him in a positive manner. I also believe my children will one day realize the depth of my love for them and will give me the same respect that I give to my parents. I take my academic and professional responsibilities seriously and also do not hesitate to help people with their problems. Thus, I hope to earn the respect of my colleagues at work as well.

The last step in Maslow’s Hierarchy is Self-Actualization. Even though technical skills are necessary to succeed in the healthcare sector, one cannot ignore the importance of soft skills such as people skills, leadership skills, and communication skills. I hope to bring changes in the healthcare sector through my personal observations that should further improve the care given to patients. I also plan to engage in community social work so that I can help those going through difficult times and give them courage to never give up in life, no matter how hopeless the situation may be. To achieve self-actualization, I will accumulate some assets over my professional career, a portion of which I will donate to the community programs. I will also continue to keep myself updated on both local and global social issues and interact with social reformers and leaders. I have been helped by many people during difficult times and I understand the interdependence between community members. This is why I also want to help others when I will finally be in a position to do so, both financially and emotionally. This will also make me happier and psychologically-fulfilled.
