“Players in Concert”, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 227

Essay

The second Concert I attended was the “Players in Concert” at the Wertheim Performing Arts Centre. The concert was held in the FIU Chamber on April 16, 2013 between 7:30 PM and 12:00 AM. The setting was an intimate theatre. This was a particularly good choice owing to the kind of music that was to be played that night.

The crowd was mainly middle-aged to young. This is owing to the fact that the kind of music that was to be played during this concert would be mainly fast paced.

There were several compositions that were performed during the night, most of the original compositions. Of particular interest was the following composition.

“Hebrew Melodies for Viola and Piano” by Joseph Joachim. This piece had 3 particular movements throughput the performance, using the viola and Piano. The three parts were in G minor for the first part, C minor for the second part and F minor for the third and last part. It is a romantic piece. The piece was in some sections slow and quite solemn, a Grave tempo at 30 BPM and in some sections it was at a walking pace, an Andante Tempo at 75 BPM. This piece was originally composed in 1855.

The concert was also a huge success. The sensual setting set the correct mood for the majorly slow paced and slow tempo music that was played.
