Pocahontas Memorial Hospital’s (PMH) mission is to be the community’s first choice for integrated healthcare. PMH does this by ensuring excellence through continuing education, effective collaboration, and exceptional customer service.

Vision

PMH’s vision is to become the leading healthcare provider and educator in the community.

Values

There are nine core values or principles that are the driving force behind PMH’s day-to-day operations:

  1. Commitment to excellence: PMH commits to excellence in all aspects of its operations whether they are human resources management, customer service, quality of products and services, financial management, or organizational growth.
  2. Objectively diagnose problems and improve processes: PMH utilizes a number of quantitative monitoring and control tools to diagnose and solve potential issues as well as improve processes.
  3. Build a culture around service: This principle reflects PMH’s commitment to superior customer service.
  4. Create and develop leaders: This principle reflects PMH’s commitment to internally developing current and future leaders.
  5. Focus on employee satisfaction: PMH understands that operational excellence and superior customer service are not possible without committed and satisfied employees, thus, the company ensures employees are treated well and rewarded for their efforts.
  6. Build Individual Accountability: PMH believes that quality is achieved when everyone takes responsibility for his/her performance. This approach has many benefits including lack of need for round-the-clock supervision. In addition, this approach also demonstrates organization’s confidence that employees are capable of handling their responsibilities.
  7. Aligns Behaviors with Goals and Values: It is important to ensure that all employee efforts are towards the same goals and their behaviors correspond to the same values. This principle also demonstrates the importance of open and honest communication.
  8. Communicate at all levels: As already noted, PMH is committed to open communication throughout the organization. In other words, communication doesn’t merely flow from management to subordinates but instead PMH employs 360 degrees communication environment.
  9. Recognize and Reward Success: This principle reflects PMH’s philosophy that that is a direct relationship between incentives and performance. Thus, the organization is committed to rewarding its employees for demonstrating high levels of performance in order to further motivate them.

Goals

PMH’s management understands the importance of clear and specific goals so that everyone directs his/her efforts towards the same objectives. PMH is primarily driven by the following five goals:

  1. PMH’s first goal is to be the leading provider of healthcare services in the community. When local community members may have healthcare issues, PMH should be the first name to come to their minds.
  2. PMH’s goals also include creating an environment that promotes healthy lifestyle choices among community members.
  3. PMH doesn’t only want to be the leading healthcare provider in the community but also a responsible corporate citizen. The organization wants to play a major role in the community development an progress.
  4. PMH is also committed to preventive care and community outreach programs that include educating the public and helping them make responsible healthcare choices.
  5. PMH goals include not only promoting physical but also emotional and financial health in the community.
