Policies Impacting Texas, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 296

Essay

It appears that a majority of Texas residents believe that it is beneficial to continue to fight against the Environmental Protection Agency for its right to use coal and oil power sources. Texas industry is partially based on these plants, and the regulations that they are facing may hurt the economy of the state. However, it is important to consider the more drastic economic impacts that allowing these plans to continue releasing emissions into the environment will cause in the future. In addition, some of these emissions, such as mercury, are highly toxic and have been linked to problems in human health.

The Environmental Protection Agency has the ability to fine the state government for failing to comply with its environmental standards. Ultimately, these requirements were put in place to ensure the protection of both the state of Texas in addition to its neighbors. Factors that impact the environment in Texas have the ability to spread to nearby states that would suffer health and financial repercussions for actions they did not take. Therefore, it would be reasonable to cease the fight against the environmental department and heed their requirements. The lawsuit against the agency is not beneficial to the long-term survival of the area and is causing the state and the federal government unnecessary expenses.

It is important for the Environmental Protection Agency to enforce environmental standards across the country. It is therefore necessary to follow the expert recommendations it has put forth. Please encourage the local government to take legal action to revoke the suit. This will ultimately allow the state of Texas to continue to thrive by supporting a healthy environment and healthy people for years to come.
