The terms comparative criminal justice system and international criminal justice system have been used interchangeably by scholars for obvious reasons. However, some scholars have indicated that their interchangeable usage is misleading because both terms do not literarily mean the same thing.

There are many variations in criminal justice Within Western nations in the conceptions as well as goals of criminal justice, compared to variation in the non western settings. The root of the US system in the legal culture of the Anglo-Saxon evolved into a tradition in Countiries such as Canada. A comparative analysis of the pretrial prejudice Netherlands and U.S show that the Canadian legal system stresses on the rights to a fair trial than on the right to the free press as the judge has the right to members of the public and press from entering the courtroom so as to maintain order I the proceeding and as a show of maturity of public morality (Leishman, F., 1997).

Another difference in the systems is in the legal ideologies between UK and US. The UK’S system  of crime control emphasizes that the main faction of criminal justice is to punish the guilty while the UK’s system is emphasizing on the rights of the defendants in any court proceeding.

Another difference is seen in relation to the courtroom procedures in the US and England, England has a structured system of solicitors and barristers as compared to the apart from the informal, televised proceedings seen in the proceeding in the United States courts  Other differences arises in comparative criminal justice and global social change especially while considering the level of  Civilization and Modernization, the influence of Economic Modernization and the general move towards globalization and Democratization (Leishman, F. (1997).

Television Imagery

The major influences seen in the U.S. criminal justice system is mainly in the television imagery and the general Public Knowledge. Social learning should be given serious considerations as well as the effects of television in transmission of information of the judicial system of the US. Televising the court proceedings in the US is known to act as a deterrent to the potential offenders and the public in general. It also educates the society on issues pertaining to their rights as defendants as well as their duties as members of that society to uphold peace
