This concert report covers an artist who is categorized as a popular musician named P!nk will be discussed in this report from a concert I attended in September 2015. I first learned about pink years ago while watching MTV when her first big hit, which I admit I was not a fan of, was released over a decade ago. Her enduring influence in the pop industry as well as a proto-feminist has enabled her to maintain a large fan base. While her beauty deviates from the hegemonic notions of white female beauty, her music, her ability to emote in the same way that Adele does, undergirds her pervasive popularity not only within the United States but also around the globe. The feminist female pop vocal performer put on a scintillating and absolutely awe-inspiring concert at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas that was profoundly entertaining and eclectic and creative regarding how the concert was carried out. P!nk is one of my favorite if not my favorite female vocalists not only because of the emotive nature of her music and lyrics but also because she is a archetypal feminist who chafes against traditional roles and images of how females should look, act, and comport themselves. While this report focuses on the facets of the concert and the acoustics and theatricality that went into the performance, it should still be noted that P!nk ass a popular music musician inspires young girls, teenagers, and young adults alike not only through her lyrical content but also through how she comports herself in public within such a judgmental and glib western culture and society. She is a galvanizing artist who unequivocally loves her craft when she exerts an immense amount of effort planning concerts that are entertaining and engaging to a diverse and eclectic audience.
P!nk always sings live at her concerts rather than lip singing like many other pop music artists do in order to prioritize theatrics over genuine signing. It was clear that P!nk sang without background music and concurrently was able to perform exceedingly arduous aerial acrobatics while also singing the songs perfectly. In particular, her performance of the popular song “Try” in an amazing ensemble in terms if background music, acrobatics and tonal acuity and accuracy. The song lyrics discuss how people who are passionate about each other and act on such lust are at risks of getting hurt. However, life is too short not to try and achieve happiness, so P!nk in my opinion is saying that even if a relationship or sensual attraction ends poorly, it’s better to have loved and lost than not having loved at all. This song, in my opinion retains much currency for young girls who just developed feelings towards a love interest. It has a moderate paced tempo that does not rely on lyrical repetition to convey the message that the artist sought to do so.
This scintillating experience was enjoyed from the worst seats in the entire arena but still had a wonderful time and truly appreciated how much effort she put into a concert that clearly grafted theatrics well into the nuanced performance without compromising the quality of her singing. The ensemble of musical instruments included the guitar and some drums instead of background music and the recorded version of the song being played. I appreciated this set up because then it was not questionable whether or not P!nk was actually singing the vocals or if she was lip syncing like many other popular artists do
I am a P!nk aficionado, so I admit to being biased about her as an artist and as a performer. However, she attacks important social and cultural issues through her song lyrics while also writing her own music that emotes and touches people in a trenchant manner that cannot be ignored for her persona as a popular music artist. Her concert was breathtaking, exciting, emotional, and fun all wrapped into one. Her eclectic style of music fused with her androgynous identity is appealing to an audience that embraces syncretism and advocacy, which are two things that P!nk represents. Ultimately, P!nk is a feminist icon who uses her musical and vocal dexterity as a platform to inspire young girls to become self-empowered while also deploying empathy so that female listeners believes that she knows the struggles that young women confront on a quotidian basis in such a glib, fast-pace, and materialistic world. Her set list was impeccable and I was so happy to be able to witness her singing her original music with such strength and emotion without having to use a voice box. Her music is raw, scintillating and emotional. Artists from a variety of genres can learn from her how to use music and concerts as a platform to fight for causes at the scale.
