Essay

Poverty means a situation in which one that lacks a particular amount of money or material possessions. According to United Nation, “poverty refers to a denial of opportunities and choices, an infringement of human dignity.” There are two type of poverty. First type is named as absolute poverty, which means someone who does not have basic or essential human needs, which usually consists on fresh and clean water, health care, nutrition, education, shelter and clothing. Today, it has been estimated that approximately 1.7 billion people are living with absolute poverty. The second type is called relative poverty that refers to someone who is depriving of a common or socially acceptable level of income or resources when compared with other people in a country or society. Historically, poverty had been generally considered as unavoidable as conventional production methods were inadequate to provide a comfortable living standard to all the population.

It is generally believed that poverty can be reduced with the increase in the availability of basic needs. The availability of basis needs can be increased by placing limitations on issues of government level for instance debt, corruption and loan situations and by the brain drain of professionals in educational and health care sector. Strategies policies and programs of improving income level in order to make the more affordability of basic needs usually involve economic freedom, welfare, and offering services related to financial matters. Another method to reduce poverty level is to increase the incomes from farmlands, because farmland income is believed as the central antipoverty struggle as three fourth of the poor people are farmers today.
