It is essential for organizational leaders to increase communication and buy-in which consequently leads to an increase achievement and productivity. It is by means of communication that the best leaders in organizations are able to motivate and empower their employees. Likewise, good communication is responsible for promoting discipline, strategic alignment as well as accountability. Clear communication is the most important aspect of great leaders and it is the thread that ties all the other functions in management including planning, organization, staffing, leading and controlling (Mark & John, 2002). Through clear communication in the organization, the greatest leadership success is achieved. Clear communication also helps leaders in their marketing of services and products. The most successful leaders in an organization must be first-rate communicators and they are able to make clear and solid their values. Any communication from these leaders serves the purpose of promoting their values.
Clear communication is an inspiration to team members and makes the organization to attain novel benchmarks in as far as achievements are concerned. It is important to appreciate the fact that clear communication involves two-way process. Therefore, apart from speaking clearly, it is important for the leader to ascertain that the audience hear and understand the message communicated. Therefore, a clear communication needs the application of two-way primer of communication (Sarah & Arthur, 2004).
In preparation of how to communicate, it is important to elucidate the goal of communication, plan carefully and anticipate the viewpoints as well as the feelings of intended receiver. This is then followed by message delivery which involves an expression of the meaning with the right conviction and relating the sent message to the larger goals. Then identification of the relevant action needed and confirmation of the level of understanding of the recipient are equally important. A clear communication involves keeping an open mind, identification of important points in a message, valuing of constructive feedback and confirmation that the audience understands the message. The effectiveness of communication is evaluated afterwards and any relevant corrective action therefore taken.
Use of clear communication by great leaders requires ascertain that the greatest number of audience comprehend and acknowledge the vision of the organization. In some organization however, failure is attributed to under-communication as well as inconsistency in communication that are consequential to stalled transformations. Good and successful leaders therefore make use of effective channels of communication to pass the visions of their organization to their teams. Generic programs of education are non effective and instead sessions focusing on the problems facing the business and novel visions should be emphasized. Great leaders strive to identify the cause of poor and ineffective internal communication in their organization and identify the potential barriers which are the guide to improvement. After drafting a letter, policy statement or an email to be communicated to members of organization, it is important to consider the potential barriers that hinder great communication. On successful identification of the existing barriers to clear communication in the organization, it is important to go step ahead and enquire on the health of the business. The great leader should come up with strategic alignments in the organization. The team members should be made to actively buy in to the goals of the business. It is also important to make sure that all members are able to fully comprehend and uphold the values and the goals of the organization. The secret of achievement in these issues is held in clear communication (Gerald, 2007).
Clear communication in any organization also calls for keeping in mind the significance of assessing and addressing cultural norms in the presentation so as to increase the likelihood for change acceptance and build organizational capacity. It is an obvious fact that any value driven culture is an important recipe to the performance of the business (Henry, 2007). Great leaders make use of cultural norms in organizations that they lead as a basis of concrete guidelines in the improvement of the position of the organization on the culture side. This is an important recipe for achievement of greater buy-in in the organization. Great leaders should also be in a position to obtain as well as build the organizational capacity which helps the members in the accomplishments of the goals of the organization. Knowledge of the cultural sensitivity as well as the norms of the organization increases the ability of interaction in the organization and encouragement of decision making that help in the enactment of change (Sarah & Arthur, 2004).
Achievement of clear communication is a paramount aspect for the success of business leaders. Growing as a leader as well as a manager therefore requires that, the individual accumulates sufficient skills to facilitate effective and compelling communication. This is also important for the success of the company in increasing achievement and productivity and in assessing and addressing cultural norms that increase the likelihood for change acceptance and build organizational capacity. Success in an organization requires that the leader and the team members learn the basic concepts of clear communication so as to achieve leadership excellence.
