Khalifa Tower
The social text of the Burj Khalifa as known as the Khalifa Towers is social statements of a wealthy climate located in the downtown Dubai area. The social reflections of grandeur, beauty, richness, and wealth is written with ever brick and stone. There is historical meaning in the construction of the geographical buildings that reflect the social text of Dubai. The Arab people are an amazing and wonderful people who has some the most beautiful buildings, arts, geographical fixtures that are so beautiful that the social context has to reflect the pass sophistication and sheer beauty of Arabian arts, foundations, and architecture. The Khalifa Towers makes a social statement with over 30,000 homes, nine hotels, and 19 residential towers. This social text represents the culture of the Arabian communities that are hospitable, kindness, comfort and thoughtful as richness of their culture is reflected in the construction of the buildings. The power of language with Khalifa Towers in in the design that reflects the culture, tradition and language in the landscape architect. The superstructure is supported by a large reinforced concrete mat, which is in turn supported by bored reinforced concrete piles. The design was based on extensive geotechnical and seismic studies” (BurJ 1). The building speak a language that is rich in the wealth and tradition of Dubai that is set in the geographical tone what represents the social consciousness and text of Dubai. The trend of the most magnificent building structures do not override the Islamic culture because the architect has a background in Islamic structures and art. The architect was Adrian Smith who develop and created the patterns from traditional Islamic art, culture, and buildings.
The Social Text
The power of language as explained in the Paris L. Archers “The Social Text which suggests that the social text is everything we see, write or hear which may or may not have a meaning of its own yet it exists as a communication model that reflects. The meanings that are very changing within these words are significant meaning about the reflection of social interactions. These imperative commands by many different set of words that are grouped in reference to different subjects with hidden and clear perceptions of the social influence. The power of “The Social Text” is the ability to enter society seamlessly every changing the societal views and reflections on the backdrop perceptions inside and outside the social realm of reality.
Theory of Dérive
As I read the Theory of Dérive it became clear about the geographical settings and importance. In the Theory of Dérive the central theme is the climate of a city can determine the development of the cities ecological landscape. The dérive describes an s methodology to geography that highlights light-heartedness and drifting surrounding urban environments” which completely distinguishes it from the classical notions of the journey and the stroll” (Debord, 1956). This method has varied ambiance’. My interpretation of the Theory of Dérive that the meteorological changes such as rain which is a derive because one of the definition presented in the Theory of Dérive was an ” ecological science – despite the apparently narrow social space to which it limits itself – provides psychogeography with abundant data”(Debord,1956). Thus in agreement with author that views of the old maps mid-air photographs and experimental results represent how the people of that era ushered in the changing structural designs and urban planning.
Ekphrasis
Ekphrasis is from the Greek meaning of art as presented in an imaginary rhetorical way that is graphical, dramatic, and visual work of art. In basic terms it is a description of an experience, person, or anything. It is the creative skill of a writer to make some imaginary into dramatic or graphical art.” One particular kind of visual description is also the oldest type of writing about art in the West. Called Ekphrasis, it was created by the Greeks. Del Gandio believes that language identifies cultural heritage directly to the heart of the theater (O’Connor 1). In many cases, however, the subject never actually existed, making the ekphrastic description a demonstration of both the creative imagination and the skill of the writer” (Munsterberg 2).
As I read about Ekphrasis, Homer’s wrote about a bestowed shield and magical shield that was reinforced with five layers of metal with a long silver-strap that had silver from the top to the end of the strap. The strap was separated into five sections, and “covers them with images it took from the sky, sea, moon, sun, stars, and earth” (Debold, 1956). Homer description was a picture of elegance fit for Greek god.
Rhetoric for Radicals
Rhetoric for Radicals shows the power of language guidelines that can be applied in any “situation such street theatrics, public speaking, conversation, writing, and new languages” (Del Gandio 1). After the reading three of the Rhetoric for Radicals chapters, it was an expressive display of the power of language. Language can be used as a positive way of communication or it can be used as weapon that can emotionally cripple someone with a word. The have been cities, nations and regions dominated by the propaganda of a specific moral, legal or social message. Traditionally, people thing that language is only a tool for conversation, however, language is a systematic way of combining symbols and signs that express specific aspects of contextual thoughts are created. Language is all about the context of meanings and intended goal of the communicator. The body speaks another language that can represent civilizations, or cultural identities are expressed.
The history of imagism began with the response that Georgian Romanticism was so abstract that is writing had no real meaning. “Imagism was a reaction against the flabby abstract language and “careless thinking” of Georgian Romanticism. Imagist poetry aimed to replace muddy abstractions with exactness of observed detail, apt metaphors, and economy of language”. (Poetry.org 1). The power language can be understand in the definition of imagism. Imagism was a 20thcentury Anglo-American poetry that is delivered with crisp imagery and sharp language. “The Imagist movement included English and American poets in the early twentieth century who wrote free verse and were devoted to clarity of expression through the use of precise visual images”(Poetry.org 1).
Futurisms is a powerful deliver of language in a strong tone that can purposely inspire public anger and cause major controversy. In the 20th center this language movement emphasized speed, power, vitality and the restlessness of life” (Encyclopedia Britannica 1). The futurism movement moved across Europe like a rapid fire impact all types of visual arts and poetry.
After reading Freytag contribution to language. It was a powerful display of changing the perception of drama, language, analysis of art, and theatrical plays. These publications by Freytag began to develop a different mirror to view language and art by Europe. It was the way that Freytag danced with words, phrases, realism, rhythm, pace and metaphors that brought about the accolades as one the best novelist of the times. One of the most prolific changes was the reorganization of a drama. The drama is divided into five parts or acts that are broken down into demonstration, apex, falling action, rising action, and conclusion.
