Introduction

Prader-Willi condition is one of the rare and complex genetic health problems that mostly affect the growth of individuals at different stages of their life. It is primarily characterized by various problems such as short stature, skeletal abnormalities as well as eye problems. According to several medical reports and publications, intellectual disability, short term memory problems as well as sleep and eating problems also forms some of the major health and behavioral problems associated with the condition. In that sense, this will focus on the analysis of the known causes, treatment options, and long-term effects of Prader-Willi genetic disorder among children and other family members in the society.  The paper will also illustrate how the condition affects children in their early childhood especially towards their education and classroom performance.

Prader-Willi Genetic Condition

Prader-Willi syndrome and condition is one of the rare genetic disorders that usually cause various problems to individuals including a constant desire to eat, restricted growth, reduced muscle tone as well as learning difficulties.  In most cases, individuals that suffer from this condition also experience the lack of sexual desires and development and other behavioral health problems such as temper tantrums and picking at the skin.

According to various medical research based studies and reports, the main cause of Prader-Willi syndrome includes genetic defect on the paternal  chromosome number fifteen, and this usually occur by chance on individuals.  This mostly occurs during the formation of egg cells especially during   embryonic stages. It is also clear from a number healthcare reports that the disorder mainly occur in cases where the paternal and maternal chromosome 15 is deleted in each cell thus causing lack of certain genes in the children  who suffer from this disorder.

During childhood, the condition also promotes children chronic overeating behaviors, intellectual impairment, learning difficulties as well as obesity conditions that can lead to type 2 diabetes mellitus health problem.  The condition can also reoccur within a family especially in cases of imprinting mutation

Diagnosis and treatment of the condition mostly involve several genetic testing and practices that can be used to managed the condition since it has no cure.  This including maintaining healthy and balance diet.  Provision of pregnancy therapy, growth hormone therapy and other medication systems can also be used in controlling and treatment of the condition.
