Prepared Nurse Voice and Perspective in Academic Setting, Essay Example

The DNP-prepared nurse in an academic setting must be accorded voice as well as perspective that are likely to offer a good opportunity for their growth and development. This is important as it is likely to translate to patient satisfaction, enhancement in patient care and reduction of errors. So many concerns have been raised in the faculty of DNP nursing degree. It is prudent to make sure that the concerns dissipate as the DNP-prepared nurse engage in programs in the academic settings.

Majority of the DNP-prepared nurse go back to the graduate school in anticipation of joining an academic setting being a faculty. The DNP-prepared nurse pursuing the faculty positions are exposed to fears that they are unlikely to secure tenure-track positions. This is a significant concern that is based on underlying tension that engulfs the PHD-prepared and the DNP-prepared nurse in some of the settings in the faculty. In most cases, the DNP-prepared nurse have been despised by the PHD -prepared nurse and it is therefore prudent that are assured of a new voice and perspective once they join the academic setting (Webber, 2008).  The commentary of despise can only serve in the perpetuation of dissentation between the DNP-prepared nurse and the PHD-prepared nurse in the academic setting and none of the parties is likely to derive any significant merit. The DNP-prepared nurse therefore needs a fair treatment and be assured that they can have a chance for accessing similar opportunities as their PHD-prepared nurses counterparts. The DNP-prepared nurse are experts in their field of profession and they are usually equipped with appreciable skills as well as experiences. The decision to return to school must not be associated with a weakness (Gortner, 2009).
