Press Release on Smart Ear, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 465

Essay

Last week, Smart Ear International was a name associated with much controversy and negativity in the international media as it was banned by the FDA and FTC.  Now, over 320 people throughout the Midwest have been infected by a skin-consuming rash that the government believes is associated with the intelligent-increasing product Smart Ear.

Smart Ear International spokesman, Jonny Fui, said in a press conference this week that “no such infection has occurred in any of the 36 countries around the world where customers have purchased Smart Ear devices.”  Furthermore, “the Smart Ear product has been thoroughly tested by medical professionals throughout Europe and the United States to ensure the highest quality.”

“Our company is dedicated to providing all consumers with an excellent product,” spoke Fui.  “Research shows that it does increase intelligence and we will continue to offer the product internationally, despite the decision in the United States.”

President of the company, Rocky Fuginaka, has been unavailable for comment since the ban occurred late last week.  His secretary has been ordered to clear his schedule for the next several weeks, and Fuginaka has not made a public appearance in eight days.  The Smart Ear International web site briefly addresses the issue by stating that “President Fuginaka has taken a brief hiatus from the company to address a recent illness in the family.”

“We wish President Fuginaka and his family the best during this difficult time,” Fui continued.  “All company operations will continue to be performed as scheduled and we are making every effort to cooperate fully with the investigation in the U.S.”

“Our mission statement states that we ‘have an obligation to our customers’ to provide them an excellent service.  Therefore, we are offering a full and complete refund to customers in the United States that have been infected or are displeased with the effects of the product in any way.”

Initial reports in the European markets have shown that Smart Ear sales have not decreased in those countries.  The skin-consuming rash, appropriately labeled by SMI as “the American plague,” has been tested by Stanford and Johns Hopkins medical professionals.

“There has been absolutely no direct medical link between Smart Ear and the American disease,” said Fui. “Everyone at our company is praying and sending our best wishes and hopes for the infected individuals.”

“However, we urge our customers to look to the research.  Everything suggests that this disease is not associated with SMI.  International sales will continue, and all warrantees will continue to be honored by all customers around the world.”

Smart Ear International continues to maintain a positive image throughout the world, despite this unfortunate incident.  Medical reports are set to come out early next week to help shed light on this incident.  To this point no direct legal proceedings are occurring until the medical reports have been published and made public.
