Price, Value, and Country of Origin, Essay Example

Three of my five favorite garments were manufactured in China. These garments include a shirt, a pair of jeans, and a dress, and earned a quality rating of two, three, and three respectively. All three garments, even the shirt that received a two, fit very well. Rayon, spandex, and polyester are common fabrics among these three garments. The price of the jeans and shirt are the same, however the dress was in a higher price point. The blazer originating in Vietnam lost quality points because of its overall fit, but kept points based on its construction. The shirt manufactured in Korea earned the most quality points based on fit and construction.

What conclusions can be drawn about the relationship between price, value, and country of origin between these five garments is rather vague. The garments from China are perhaps the most telling, by way of retail price. China produces so many garments for so many different outlets in a way that the quality remains very similar though out their output. Retail price of garments from China appears to be based more on label than the quality of the garment.
