Privates Should Be Private, Essay Example

I think that Americans care about privacy. Mikko Hyppönen quoted the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, “No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks” (para. 5). Americans care if their private videos become public because this is in an invasion of privacy and could put people’s kids at risk. People definitely care if a selfie they’ve taken (a suggestive or completely nude selfie) is given to a person and that person then gives the photo to a third party and the photo ends up on the internet forever. Archives are good because they let us remember and learn from our past but doing so without permission from a private citizen is unwarranted.
