Nurses are basically known for this particular course of professional involvement. Nurses, standing as the ones to have the closest connection with the patients, ought to have a concrete sense of control on how matters develop especially in relation to how the needs of the patients are responded to accordingly and with specific efficiency. Nevertheless, for nurses, the need to adapt to the situation is an immediate response that ought to be rooted within their personal and professional culture. This approach to the condition of work that they are expected to complete shall give them a more competent idealism on how they handle the different cases they ought to deal with every time. In this concept paper, understanding the process of adaptation at a much deeper course of consideration shall be given particular attention to, especially as to how it relates to the regular daily duties that nurses need to take into account.

Adaptation, per se, is the process of a person being able to follow through the situations and becoming more acquainted to the procedures that are designed to make matters easier to handle especially when it comes to determining the most convening approaches to resolving a specific problem. Adaptation allows a person to see matters clearly even when emergencies occur especially involving unforeseen situations that make it harder for particular decisions to be made immediately. Immediate decisions in emergency situations are specifically necessary to be able to respond to the case with full efficiency with the aim of saving the life of the individual being attended to. The need to adapt is something that allows a person to become more responsive to situations and function according to the needs that they have to be fully in control of. Considerably, these points of adaptation do not only need to be recognized as part of the nursing response that individuals give their patients because of the evolution of particular diseases and the emergence of new ailments. Instead, it also adds into the ways by which the need to face the new innovations in medicine ought to be fully realized by the members of the industry. Practically, individuals working in the medical industries need to be fully connected with the need to become more involved in the computerized manners by which medical operations are recorded and completed.
New computerized innovations such as the EHR or the Electronic Health Records systems often challenge nurses who have been accustomed to working with the traditional manners of recording cases. Relatively, it could be understood that such adjustment to operations ought to help nurses and other members of the industry to become more effective in responding to their roles in providing what is needed by the society in consideration with the medical adjustments being established for their own benefit. Adaptation in nursing follows through two different phases. These two phases include these primary characteristics:
