Essay

Owing to the recent issuance and probable acceptance of the company’s bid on the design project, “Analysis of a Preliminarily Designed New office Building (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer)”, it is with great importance that the company contacts the FRP for an amendment of the bid. The Bid was initially stated at $219,500.00, while it should have been $269,500. Such a decision and move by the company is the wisest, considering the situation.

According to the law, such a move is supported and legally accepted. This is because the mistake made was purely a mathematical error and was not intentionally done to gain an upper hand in the shortlisting and selection of bids. The client may potentially deny our request, however, the company would be cushioned from any financial implications of altering the bid. This is considering the bid has been shortlisted and not accepted. Therefore, the client does not have the legal power to sue the company for any financial expenses incurred by the client during the course of the shortlisting.

This is also the most ethical thing to do. The remainder of the decisions may potentially raise ethical issues related to the selection process by either going ahead with the bid and potentially losing considerable finances in the process, or merely communicating directly with the company in the process of selection of the bids. This allows for the company to clearly state their position as regards the matter of the mathematical error, and the client to consider the new bid relative to the remaining 4 shortlisted bids. The client may potentially drop the company’s bid. However, they are bound to understand the mathematical error as it is considerable.
