Imagine a chaotic and unregulated job site. Disorder on the job can lead to unproductivity, injuries, and loss of various types. It is important for managers to oversee jobs and projects, as well as their employees, in order to increase productivity and safety on the project site. In any project management endeavor it is absolutely essential to plan, organize, direct, and control the given project and employees. In doing so, a manager must measure, evaluate, monitor and report.
As a project manager it is essential to plan before starting any project. Project planning is a continual process in which the course of action is set into motion. During this stage of the project a manager must set goals and map out a course of action in order to reach project goals. The manager must deliver the goals and plan to the entire team in an effort to obtain important objectives. Communication is a largely important factor in this stage of the project.
After setting objectives and mapping out a plan of action, it is essential to communicate the project and plan to the team. In organizing a project, a manager must evaluate resources and delegate jobs. A manager must measure, evaluate, monitor, and report financial resources, how the finances are implemented and which areas the finances are directed to on the project. Additionally, a manager must evaluate the resources and materials available for completing the job. After evaluating the resources, managers split the micro-projects among team members by delegating and directing jobs.
In directing the project it is crucial to manage, motivate and direct the team. During this stage of the management process a manager might implement employee incentives in order to increase employee productivity and overall job production quality. A manager must manage employees through successful communication and directing in addition to monitoring team progress.
During the controlling phase of project management, the manager evaluates goals and job performance. At various points of the project progress the manager will reconsider goals and compare overall team progress and individual progress in relation to the overall scope of the project. A manager typically measures overall team performance as well as individual job performance during this stage. The manager will evaluate team members and the quality of work in which they are producing in relation to the goals of the job. Furthermore, the manager reports on the progress of the project and the team members.
Think about an unregulated and muddled job site. Disorder on any job project site can potentially lead to overall unproductivity, grievances, and losses of many different magnitudes. It is crucial for project managers to supervise jobs and projects, in addition to their team members, in an effort to increase job productivity, job quality, and safety on the project site. In any project management endeavor it is absolutely essential to plan, organize, direct, and control the given project and employees. In doing so, a manager must measure, evaluate, monitor and report.
