Ethics play an integral role in ensuring that an organization achieves its goals. It is the responsibility of every employee irrespective of rank to ensure that good work ethics are maintained for a company to function at its peak (Hoekveld & Needham, 2013). A work ethic is a lay down of moral principals intended to guide an employee in his job. Businesses must understand several factors enshrined in the docket of ethics.
Integrity is a fundamental component of ethics that promotes a culture of trust with clients, coworkers and supervisors. Integrity fosters honesty and high moral standards in a workplace. A strong sense of responsibility impinges on the amount and quality of work undertaken on a stipulated timeframe. When the component of responsibility is well entrenched in a workforce the business is unleashed the burden of too much physical supervision and a culture of self supervision is established. Emphasis on Quality is a vibrant ethical component that ensures that the work done in a given timeframe is promotional its worthiness. In the absence of quality workers may work for the sake of keeping their jobs which eventually degrades the quality of products or services at the peril of the company.
Globally businesses have embarked on projects that are geared towards the concept of business process improvement (Eskridge, French & McThomas, 2012). These projects demands enormous amount of research, concentration and money since all process improvement ventures are basically grounded on technology. Notwithstanding the necessity underlying the imperativeness of technology in business development, businesses must understand the critical factors that are core to technology. Any shadow casted over the critical factors of business and technology spells doom on the process of improvement and the organization as a whole.
It is indispensably vital to acknowledge that “people are the process”, contrary to the idea that technology is the process that makes an organization to thrive. It is also important to ensure that the people entrusted to man business process improvement are enabled with proper skills and capabilities. In a word everyone in an organization ought to have education with an appropriate level of understanding technology. Lastly there ought to be a well defined process that empowers and creates active participation amongst all the players in the implementation process of any new technology (Colistra, 2010).
Every business venture is developed within a social setting and it is viewed not only as a private, public or a nonprofit entity but as a social entity bearing some social responsibilities. Activists, governments and the media have made organizations to account for their social activities arousing massive public attention. Ultimately corporate Social responsibility has become an inevitable priority for every business venture around the world. It is worth to commend organizations for their relentless attempt to improve on the social and environmental consequences attributed to their activities (Fine & Teram, 2009).
At this point it is vital for businesses to understand the factors that are the ingredients of harmonized Corporate Social Responsibility. Foremost, businesses pit ventures against society, but on the contrary the two are interdependent and inseparable. Secondly corporations are often inclined to imagine that Corporate Social Responsibilities are standardized thus overlooking the appropriateness of the corporation’s strategy. Therefore organizations ought to view their CSR as a source of innovation, opportunity, and competitive advantage and not a standardized law to be followed. A formidable CSR is bound to endear the corporation to the society contrary to a systematically and standardized CSR framework which lacks the inclusiveness of the society. An inclusive CSR is sensitive to the basic demands of the society; a living example is when Nike Corporation faced a consumer boycott that was aggregated by Nike’s social insensitivity in Indonesia in the early 90s
