Pages: 1

Words: 292

Essay

Do you believe that statistics can be used to prove either sides of any argument? Why or why not?

Statistics collected in a research are intended to establish evidence for both sides of any argument and prove the claim associated with both sides. Therefore, the researcher attempts to generate sufficient arguments to support and refute any argument. The statistics gathered therefore can force the researcher to change mind concerning the topic under investigation or accept and validate the initial position. Any tool chosen in a research should serve the purpose of gathering statistics “so that the information can be compiled and analyzed by the researchers”. The statistics therefore serve as a basis for the framework to shed light concerning objectives of the project. The objectives of the investigation is information gathering statistics from a population that is directly corollary information about the skills necessary to be successful in project optimization and on demographics, experience, level of progression in project management and other key attributes of the project. Statistics gathered aid in creating the picture needed to determine the right core competencies, skills, tools and techniques necessary to optimize a project. It is important for the researcher to have clear background information concerning the argument under investigation and be well informed about diverse dimensions related to the issue being discussed. The conventional approach in an investigation is to select an argument that the research feels that it bears some arguments. The researcher must not agree or disagree with the issue but must strive to gather information concerning the pros and the cons of the topic and consider both sides of the argument. It is therefore prudent to conclude that in any investigation, statistics obtained can be used to prove either sides of any argument.
