Research Paper

The X scale (disclosure index) score is 41, Y-scale (desirability index) is 65, while Z- scale (debasement index) is 34. Since the Y-scale value is less than 75, it may indicate that Ben presented himself in a less positive manner and also he may have previously concealed some vital data required to reach a comprehensive diagnosis. Looking at the clinical personality pattern, the only code type that indicates the clinical significance of a syndrome is 2B (depressive), with a score of 81. All the other code types have their score less than 75 which implies lack of a pattern. Code type 2B indicate traits like feelings of immobility on solving life problems, being pessimistic and discouraged in relationships.

The pattern is present in Ben’s life considering that he has been less productive in perusing new business, and his relationship with friends/ family is strained. However, the severe personality pathology indicates no symptom of paranoia, schizotypal or in the borderline. Looking at the clinical syndrome, two code types have their scores satisfying the 75-84 range. The code type-A (anxiety disorder) has a value of 77 while the code type D (dysthymic disorder) has a value of 76.

This indicates that Ben exhibits traits of anxiety and even though he can perform his day- to- day functions, he still seems pessimistic, depressed and dysphoric. People with a D- score above 75 can also have low self-esteem and low self-worth. In addition, the severe clinical syndrome code type CC (major depression) has a score of 75, which indicates that Ben is under a severe amount of depression apart from his anxiety. The depression is evident from the fact that Ben no longer pursues activities he once enjoyed, and his desire to succeed has waned considerably.
