Proverbs 3:5-6 states, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Even though this course was challenging for me at times, I believe that my trust in God helped me get achieve success in this class. My drive to help others led me to understand that I was meant to enter this profession and that my path has been set straight. Despite the challenges I have faced, I believe that I have learned a lot, which will help make be a better professional and a better person as well.

I agree that life is full of “races”, but it is necessary to endure them in order to achieve gain. This course has helped me change my perspective about statistics as it pertains to advanced nursing practice because I was scared at first. I had been introduced to statistics in the past, and was somewhat overwhelmed by the notation used because it looked like a foreign language. However, the connection between statistics and epidemiology is highly valuable. Both are needed to gain an understanding of population health and help direct practice in a manner that will allow us to help improve the health of our patients. I now feel that it is my responsibility to excel in this field because I know that it will help improve the quality of care that my patients receive.

As mentioned earlier, my faith has sustained me through the past six weeks. Although I was at first concerned as to whether I would be able to gain an understanding of these biostatistical concepts, my faith helped me recognize that I would be able to be strong during this time and cope with this challenge so that I could go on to use these understandings to help others. Because of this experience, I feel that I will be more prepared to use my faith to help me master other aspects of the nursing practice as well.
