Words: 298

Essay

1.Prince George’s County Health Department offers a variety of programs for community members, including the Healthy Teens Center, the On the Road Outreach Program, and the Tobacco Control Community Coalition, all of which provide secondary and tertiary services for local residents (Prince George’s County, 2013).

2.A health activity that is essential for the community of Brentwood would include nutritional guidance and physical activity for residents who face weight challenges and the risk of chronic disease. This type of program would support community engagement and provide local residents with an opportunity to address their weight concerns and future goals. This program would also benefit from the support of local nurses and other healthcare providers to ensure that this group is provided with the support and guidance that is necessary to meet their desired goals.

3.The primary public health concerns associated a maternal-child clinic include routine preventative care and the wellbeing of all patients who visit the clinic. It is important to address different health promotion activities for this population, including the development of new nutritional classes, prenatal care strategies, Lamaze classes, and breastfeeding preparation. These offerings will promote greater health and improved outcomes for expectant mothers within the local community.

4.Parents magazine provides a number of articles that are designed to promote health and wellbeing for new and expectant mothers (Parents, 2013). The magazine offers health-related articles that address pregnancy and prenatal care, along with health tips for newborns, infants, toddlers, and young children (Parents, 2013). However, much of the magazine is focused on issues that are not related to health (Parents, 2013). The magazine is a good resource, however, for new and expectant parents who face significant changes in their lives when their children are born (Parents, 2013).
