Pages: 1

Words: 308

Essay

A system life cycle is the view of the system in addressing all critical stages in the existence of the system (Alhadi & Ahmad, 2012).  The stages include:

  • Conception of the system
  • System design as well as development
  • System production as well as construction
  • System distribution
  • System operation
  • System maintenance as well as support
  • System retirement
  • System phase-out as well as disposal (Alhadi & Ahmad, 2012).

The implication and contribution of system life cycle in database systems involves the work in interaction and independent functioning of individual system towards establishment of amalgamated whole or hodgepodge of components as well as relationships that are exclusively deviating from those between varieties of elements (Alhadi & Ahmad, 2012). A system life cycle makes it possible for database systems to have a idiosyncratic beginning and ending (Tarride, 2006). Thus A system life cycle facilitates database systems in identification of solutions starting from an initial process, following an explicit course of direction up to the last process leading to the achievement of a logical solution and consequently, systems life cycle must be considered as critical aspects in database systems (Gouws, 2007).

A systems lifecycle is conventionally made of several processes that are arranged distinctively so that the desired system lifecycle is achievable (Alhadi & Ahmad, 2012).  In developing a database therefore, the sequential order of processes arrangement is a critical consideration so that desired efficiency as and functionality are achieved (Gouws, 2007). The systems life cycle plays a crucial role in database systems in the enhancement of efficiency as well as functionality of the database. The construction of a database utilizes the various sequencies of process of system lifecycle such that the specified requirements are achieved.
