My job as a Public Relations Consultant at Hinton Communications is to make sure my clients get priority coverage in print and electronic media. My clients include government agencies, corporations, non-profit organizations, as well as private individuals. There is always intense competition for coverage in the media and it is up to me to convince my contacts at media companies why my clients are more news worthy than others. I continuously monitor news being broadcasted in the media channel as well as the issues that may be getting more attention.

My clients inform me what they hope to achieve through media coverage and I use my knowledge and experience to target the most appropriate media for their particular needs. My job responsibilities also include anticipating questions that my media contacts may have regarding my clients. One of the most important traits required by my job is patience because sometimes I make hundreds of calls before I succeed in securing media coverage for a particular client. I love my work because it provides me with tremendous learning opportunities and also help me better understand the issues shaping our country.
