Source: QiaN, Zhang, Jing-Xia Zhong, Da-Jun Zhang. (2013). Does Violent Movie Exposure Affect Aggressive Cognition of Chinese Adolescents? Evidences from a Modified STROOP Task. International Journal of Psychological Studies; Vol. 5, No. 2. [Internet Source: http://www.ccsenet.org/journal/index.php/ijps/article/view/27445/16727. Retrieved on June 30, 2013.

Problem: The study tries to concentrate on the actual effect of violent movies on the behavior of the ones viewing the said clips. Comparing it to the common notion that the more violent the films a person watches, the more evidently affective it becomes when it comes to the view of one towards violence and the tolerance that he develops when it comes to dealing with violent reactions on pressing situations.

Procedure: To be able to complete the study, the researchers contacted participants coming from both genders [male and female] to actually note how much similar and how much different each individual responses to the movies’ themes. The participants were asked to watch both violent and non-violent films and were tested for aggression later on. Relatively, the results garnered from the experiment are valued and measured against the margin of mistake that is based on gender-based behaviors.

Reaction: Considering the presentation of the findings for this study, it could be understood that watching violent movies does have an effect on the thinking and reaction of the viewers towards pressing situations. Nevertheless, such impact is not alarming thus pointing out that it is still the upbringing of a person that should be questioned when violent reactions of a person develops. Relatively, this implicates that violent movies simply appear as contributors and not as the main reason for one’s development of tolerance over violence. The researchers however agreed that this presentation of results could at some point be subjective as it did only tested the Chinese reaction to such movies and the range of age for the participants is rather limited, hence calling for better experimentations in the future.
