Computers are becoming vitalemployee components that have led to Internet and email being important tools for all successful workplaces. Employershave undoubtedly had positive impacts and clear benefits are apparent, like increase in speed of sharing and accessinginformation between clients and employees. This has led to productivity increase and improvement of communicationchannels in the organization. Having access to client’s information allows employees do a follow-up on their clients, andthis gives the clients an assurance of having best services delivered at any time. A comprehensive Internet policy is essential in the organization so as to minimize the chances of having employees misuse the company’s email or theInternet.
By using the Internet policy, employers are creating a balance by protecting the business and giving it the right to handleall its activities in a professional manner. This enables employees exercise transparency, fairness and proportionality when it comes to handling businesses on behalf of the organization. This policy will also give employees the privacy, fairprocedures and rights they require to have a healthy working environment. Correct balancing of rights leaves employersin an advantageous position and also avoids unnecessary litigation.
From the data provided, it is evident that the employees check their emails several times a day. Moreover, majority of those checking the emails are accessing business emails and Websites for business. Therefore, the Internet policy is recommended because the employees are well aware of what is required of them during working hours. Furthermore, thetraining given to employees on email policy comes a long way in explaining the importance of achieving organizationgoals and objectives. As a result, the Internet policy is going to be beneficial tools for the organization since theemployees are informed on the importance of not having personal life interfere with company’s schedules.

Additionally, the Internet is an important device that has brought innovation in the workplace and is crucial becauseorganizations are able to attain a competitive edge. It is evident that more consumers are accessing the Internet with theaim of getting creative content. Furthermore, the Internet for the employees is a chance for them to interact with customers in a more convenient way. This enables the company expand the audience base of the company and create a good image to competitors. Hence, this will increase profit for the organization and in turn, improve employees livingstandards. The Internet is also a good place for employees to gain knowledge on how to interact with the differentcustomers they deal with within a given day. Internet gives them clear understandings of the different personalities andemployees have the upper hand in ways of dealing with customers. As a result, employees and customers or clients will interact in a manner that creates a friendly environment and leaves clients feeling relaxed and confident.
However, organizations and employees should not forget the aspect of employees using the Internet for personal use. Among the young generation, this is common because they like using Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and other social mediato interact with friends. However, further investigation is needed in this area so as to minimize the chances of havingconfidential information leak to competing organization. In addition, this makes them slack behind on their duties andthus, group members are pulled back. This always causes conflicts among members and the workplace environmentbecomes hostile. Besides, communication between employees is hampered, and this transfers to the environment andproductivity is affected. Managers are then given a hard time to resolve the issue, and as they do so, time will have beenlost. For the company, time is of the essence because it costs money to run an organization. Furthermore, solvingemployee conflicts gives the organization a bad image in reference to the executive or management. As a result, theInternet policy is recommended since it will reduce the chances of having confidential information about the companylanding in the hands of the ‘enemy’.
In conclusion, an Internet policy is a crucial step that needs to be embarked on by the management to hinder the companyfrom facing obvious problems with employees, clients, stakeholders and employers. In addition, this Internet policy is an added advantage for the company since it creates speed among its employees. This also improves the channels of communication and renders the company competitive due to its technological advancements. The digital era is a periodthat needs to be investigated and monitored because it comes with positive and negative aspects. As a result, an organization needs to recognize the areas that will promote the success and growth of the organization. An Internet policy, for this company, will enable employees manage their time well and gather new information on how to handle their customers. Therefore, it is a recommendation for the organization to use the Internet policy in order to guide theemployees on what is required of them.
