Advertisements can be award-winning, controversial, successful, or totally ineffective. Different people have different opinions. As a marketing professional, it is essential to go beyond categorizing ads as successful or not, and analyze the techniques used to create the messages.

For the purposes of this assignment, we are evaluating the Reebok: Easy Tone shoe campaign. It is my opinion that the advertisement campaign was extremely successful worldwide as subsequent shoe companies picked up similar designs to pull in potential customers for the purpose of exercise, toning, and health in general.

“Jumpstart your resolution,” is the newest phrase associated with the campaign (“Reebok” 2011). In the beginning the commercials were merely explanatory in how the shoes worked to tone up your legs, thighs, and butt with no exercise more strenuous than simple walking. In addition, the commercial featured a woman of very fit physique, whom most would categorize as sexy; someone that every woman wishes to look like.

Whenever someone appeals to one’s sense of vanity and personal appearance, generally attention will be successfully grasped, at least for the moment. In this case the scenario was definitely successful, as already stated.

If anything was missing for the campaign, I would say that it was the variety available. That, however, has already been rectified in that there are now multiple designs, such as “EasyTone,” “RunTone,” and “ZigTech,”   as well as making more shoes for men as well as women in these designs (“Reebok Toning Shoes”, 2011). By increasing the options available, the customer base is increased, generating an even more profitable product.
