Reflecting Upon the Action Research, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 321

Essay

Reflecting upon the action research I conducted for the present course, I can say that the most meaningful part of research for me was the inquiry into the influence of the child’s personality on his or her learning styles. All children have the learning potential of different levels, and it is very hard at times to define the way in which the needs of each individual child as a unique personality with his or her own educational objectives and resources can be addressed. It is not surprising that we as educators always strive to the maximum result for every student, and we view the ideal classroom as the group of students successfully advancing through the academic topics. However, it is not always so, and the majority of students fail to achieve their (and our) educational goals for certain personal reasons. Hence, I initiated my action research in the attempt to reveal the ways in which children study better or worse individually or in groups for the results of my research to serve as the guidance for educators wishing to use the maximum of their classroom’s potential.

The most challenging part of the research process was to make students arrange into groups not natural for them, or work individually; obviously, all students have certain relationships with their friends in the classroom. They like working with their friends, and do not like working with children they know worse. Moreover, some children were used to working alone better, and they felt uncomfortable when grouped for group tasks; however, a significant number of students learned to distinguish the comfort of working with a friend, and the academic learning that can be effectively conducted with the unknown partner as well. The evidence for my action research will surely come from my observation of the classroom, since the effect of grouping and individual activities is the aim at which I was targeting by initiating my action research endeavor.
