Essay

Friendships are an essential component in general life, and this is down to the fact that in this world, we do need people in our lives as they help an individual through the various challenges in life. Friendships are important, but the context of the friendship is the most critical factor. In a number of cases, there are many friends, but only one friend matters. Friendships are developed on the basis of trust.

The question is how many friends can be trusted? In my general opinion, a person only needs a friend, who can be trusted or relied on when it truly matters. In several cases friends may be called friends simply because they improve an image of an individual and they will not add anything of essential substance in the friendship. So in general, one friend is all that matters, the rest are simply there for the sake of having many friends.

In my case I am the case of a friend to have as well as keep. My attributes demonstrate a friend that can be relied upon when it matters, and in some cases I cannot be relied upon due to my level of trust with certain individuals. If I have established a deep level of trust between me and another person, I can be considered to be a true friend as I will always be there for them; through the good or bad. In contrast, if there is no developed level of trust, then I cannot be deemed a true friend, but rather an individual that can be termed a friend due to my humble and friendly nature; but I will not be one that can be there in troubling times simply because the level of trust is non-existent. So I can be considered to be a friend and not a friend depending on the person in question.
