Introduction
Hook: Over time, the world has experienced some of the cruelest issues against humanity. Background: The ethnic cleansing crisis that took place in 2017 left thousands of Rohingya refugees displaced and damaged, mainly due to systematic human rights abuses.
Thesis Statement: Although multiple institutions had the potential to save Rohingya, the refugees were failed by slow international response, systemic failure, and also bureaucratic incompetence.
First Sub-Topic: The International Response
A former UN Ambassador, Gert Rosenthal, asserted that United Nations System had failed to efficiently collaborate with Myanmar’s authorities to reform the severe trends regarding human rights.[1] The UN also had the responsibility to integrate positive routines in several other areas.[2]
Second Sub-Topic: Why Considered as Failure
First, the systemic failure was evident. According to the UN, the government officials disregarded the warning signs of the brutality that faced Rohingya refugees.[3] The government also failed to intervene to help the helpless group.[4] They faced brutality from the military, starvation, and also isolation.[5]
Third Sub-Topic: How the Crisis could have been prevented
Working with organizations, such as the UN, the administration had the chance to help the refugees improve their lifestyles.[6] Besides, the number of refugees is growing at a rapid speed worldwide; therefore, nations need to make effective reforms.
Conclusion
Factors, such as slow international response, systemic failure, and also bureaucratic incompetence, prevented global agencies and even the national government from taking immediate action against Rohingya refugees.
