Restaurant Evaluation, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 394

Essay

The topic of my restaurant evaluation is the Greek restaurant Apollo, which I had tried for the first time. From the perspective of a consumer, I had never ate Greek cuisine before, thus meaning that the experience would be a new one for me, from which I could then develop an unbiased and novel approach to the various perspectives that make up the experience as a whole.

In terms of the place of the restaurant itself, its interior design tried to capture the feeling of an authentic Greek restaurant, capturing the visitor into its ambience. In so far as such restaurants are not the norm in the United States, there was a certain exotic feeling to the place itself. On the walls, the owners hung up various traditional Greek folklore dresses. From one perspective, this could be considered cliché, but since I had never been to a Greek restaurant, I appreciated the attempt to communicate traditional Greek culture to the visitor.

Of course, in any restaurant the most decisive aspect is the food itself: in this sense, I have to say that I was fully content. I ordered a souvlaki platter, which contains various peaces of meat that are grilled on a barbeque type device. The meat itself was accompanied by spring potatoes and a Greek salad. The taste of the meal was sumptuous, exploding in my mouth, as the freshness of the meal overtook my taste buds, which are used to fast food served without any personality. The food, in other words, contained a home cooked feel.

In terms of service, I must state that the entire staff conveyed a genuine courtesy. The particular waitress that was assigned to our table was a Greek immigrant, and she enthusiastically recommended to us what we should order when we asked. She not only explained various food choices, but also placed them in the context of Greek culture, which gave our experience a certain authentic feeling.

In so far as any the satisfaction in regards to any restaurant experience can be reduced to ambience, strength of service and quality of food (of course, this is the most important!), I can say that my experience at this restaurant was an unparalleled success. My companions this evening and I did not only enjoy an excellent meal, but were transported into a different environment entirely, with the help of our native guide.
