Righteous King, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 272

Essay

The duties of the righteous king are so many. His duties to remain righteous state that he must eat at a certain time, protect the less fortunate, protect the women who husbands have died, be the voice for the people, fight in battle alongside his people, pray to God, follow God’s law, set the perfect example to all those in his land, ignore anyone who means to do harm such as fortune tellers and so many more. His job is to be the role model, the example, the person that everyone should strive to be like. If he does not follow these rules then he is not righteous, he is not being Godlike, which is ultimately what he is supposed to be. Being a righteous king was no easy task, it took lots of work and obviously there was no off-time.

This is the same way that we as Americans expect our presidents to be. We expect them to be loyal, protect the poor, protect the elderly, defend his country, go to every means to make sure that America strives, to believe in God, to uphold the constitution, and make necessary changes that are needed. When the president can come through on all these we see him as a great president, when he doesn’t he is a bad president. Just in the same way if the king upheld all of his expectations he was righteous, but if not he was hated and his kingdom would fall apart. The expectations people put on their leaders are great and those that can hold up to those expectations are favored and those that cannot are hated.
