Rigor in Qualitative Research, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 466

Essay

Research studies are considered credible when they state that qualitative research is not rigorous and/or controlled to the extent that the data it produces.

The determination of rigor in research studies often relies on the concept of measuring statistical data that has been collected through a distinct methodology. It could be understood that when it comes to such matter of data-collection rigor applies well in studies that involve the distinction of variables that are basically connected to the immersion of elements into the specific condition of the population sample being observed. Hence, when it comes to applying such concept of analysis in a qualitative research, it could be realized that the balanced of elements involved in the system may not be that easy to contend with.

What are your views on this matter particularly when evaluating the rigor of a study that you may consider as evidence to a practice change initiative?

Most qualitative studies intend to create a definite insistence on how human behavior is measured accordingly. It could be observed that because of this fact, the determination of research rigor [especially in relation to the desire of putting up an effective program that develops an effective screening tool to prevent the emergence of postpartum syndrome among mother who have just delivered their babies] ought to create a definite insistence on how modern research could actually be more dependent on how the culture could be changed through applying particular procedures that determines how the behavior of the sample population could be directed accordingly.

What elements of rigor and control are important as you begin to develop your own potential project of addressing a practice change initiative that is based on evidence?

Although the element of rigor may not be as applicable in qualitative research analysis procedures as it is in quantitative, giving attention to it specifically helps in improving the efficiency of an established program to be more definite in insisting a better sense of what is imposed by behavioral improvement through intervention and assistance [as the program proposed hopes to imply].

How do you determine the rigor of your work?

To determine the rigor of my work, I am to make sure that the hypotheses being proven have a distinct connection to the methodologies used to collect the needed data for the implication and application of the new intervention program that is proposed through this research. Accordingly, it could be realized that it is with this process that the points of planning, implementation and analysis would have a definite connection between each other that further strengthens the study’s overall value.
