Critiquing quantitative analysis as a method of evaluating evidence to apply to a practice change includes many parameters, such as determining reliability and validity. Discuss why these two primary criteria for assessing quantitative data are so crucial to you as a DNP-prepared nurse that will change practice and outcomes based on your analysis of research. What are the implications for these criteria being met as you evaluate this type of evidence to apply to a practice initiative?
The value of reliability of a particular research insists on how improved the learning could actually affect the actual operations that medical practitioners take into account especially in relation to the distinct changes that are happening in the society at present. With the determination of distinct changes and how they could be managed accordingly is what makes good research fully functional for the group that for whom the work has been done for accordingly. Notably, the reliability of such study would only be amicable if the data presented in the research are valid enough to support the ideas presented by the researchers. This is why both validity and reliability go hand-in-hand especially in pointing out the value the research that is being completed for the intended population in the society. In my case, being a DNP-prepared nurse requires that I constantly gain ample knowledge about my job and my capacity to improve in accordance with such forms of development in my own field. My capacity to improve along with the society gives me a better sense of what a good professional I could be based on how I understand the real value of quantitative research in relation to my professional growth.
What are some examples you have encountered in reading research studies that point to problems with reliability and validity?
Most of the time, the determinable reliance of researchers on past studies make the validity of the data they present to be rather weak and inapplicable especially in consideration with the current situations undergone by the professionals or the group of people whose needs and concerns they aim to address. This hurts the validity of the data based on real time application, thus making a distinct impact on how the reliability of the data presented is being considered, especially for the sake of defining new paths of improvement for the population focused upon by the study.
What else besides reliability and validity should be critically appraised when evaluating quantitative research studies?
Understanding how methodological experimentations have been implemented accordingly needs careful evaluation when critically appraising quantitative research studies. It could be understood that with the determination of the real value of such matter in modern studies specifically related to medicine accounts for the actual applicability of the data collected and analyzed thus making procedures more effective in making adjustments and distinct changes that could improve medical practice at a much faster and better pace.
