Rock is a popular style among various genre of music that began in United States in the mid-1950s and later in the 1960s. It evolved more by embracing the international style called rock music but still maintained to be known as rock and roll. It originates mainly from the rhythm and blues, which are the music of the 1940s. It grows and develop from the earlier blues, tempo jazz, heavy-beat jump blues, boogie-woogie, also swing music. Traditional folk, western and country music and gospel, has also influenced rock and roll music. While the formative components of rock and roll are listened in 1920 and country manage records in 1930, the genre comes to recive its naming in the 1950s.
Elvis Presley is one key significant person in the rock and roll world. He immensely revolutionized the music world through his influence. The American white youth were able to access the Africa American music through him by which they had not been initially being exposed to. He challenged social and moral codes and norms as his career/music waved away for a new generation. He had advanced from local to a national celebrity by 1955. This entailed all the love and interest of masses of people to his amazing vocals and dances. This resulted in a new era of youth with more procreative music and an end to racial segregation. The white Americans were finally able to listen to African music as a way was paved. This resulted in positivity on either side of the races and growth in the entertainment industry.
He was born in Mississippi, and at the local church, it is where he began singing. He made his first record in 1953, but it was until 1955 that his major debut marked his journey of fame. He produced a song that was a mixture compared to the old times hence opening a new era. His song was a mixture of the blues, rhythm, country and black gospel, which was of originality and hypnotic ultimately. People did not understand his music, but it dominated in stations and was listened to by everybody. At RCA Records, Elvis reached maximum fame in 1956 and an open to a new era too.
The style and dancing of the Elvis song were more enthusiastic and thrilling compared to the initially slow and calm music. This made him more famous by the spring of 1956 where his shows and concerts attracted millions of people, causing riots all over the country. His music preached to the teenagers urging them to let go and be crazy. While onstage, women crazy as young men gazed with jealousy. Men also copied his hairstyle and sense of fashion. The youth looked at him as a figure model while his parents resented him.
The Saturday Evening Post described Elvis as an incredible dancer by explaining his dancing moves. He mastered fame that was acquired through massive media outlook and mass attention.
With the fame came its barriers and negativities because of the sexual expressiveness and shook off of the personal restraints by youth, causing controversy from white parents and politics. He incurred criticism from religious leaders, parents, politicians and educators constantly. The New York Times stated his career or talent would have been used otherwise. As people instantly criticized him, he grew more popular with teenagers. The authorities began denying him permits to perform, and local leaders denied his music to be played in local stations. Police authorities also threatened to arrest him and confiscate his materials.
In the 1960s, Elvis was seen and taken as a negative and bad influencer in American teenagers, which resulted in a heated notion all over the country. His music was considered improper and immoral, causing his fall in popularity. Despite this, his music was listened to by the youth as it led to the revolutionary of music as a whole. Music was redefined, and morals challenged.
