Essay

Ethics can be defined as rules or standards that govern the way one reacts to different situations in life. They govern the thought process and influence the decisions that an individual makes when what he/she beliefs is changed. Ethics are learnt from those around us and add up to the traits that we are already posses from our birth to help us grow into persons that we are meant to be.

Ethics serve a very good role in my life and are important for quite a number of reasons. First, ethics gives me a foundation of understanding what is right or wrong. They help me to understand how to react to different situations in life before even they happen. Since they are standard, they give me no second thought and help me live no mater what happens.

Second, ethics are important in my life because they act as a link between me and other people. When one has bad ethics or a poor understanding of ethics he she reacts to people negatively. But when one’s ethics are set on the truth as provide din the bible we will perceive people as gods children and love them as we love ourselves.

Third ethics are important to me because I can pass the m to other people. By remaining ethical in the way I live my personal life or in business life, then I have the ability to show others the right way to behave and act. By so doing I will inspire even one person directly or indirectly to live also ethically.

Fourth, ethics have made me remain on stable ground even with this changing world. They have enabled me to maintain my values and integrity and also enabled me to increase other people’s value and integrity by changing their ethics. In summary I can say that ethics can rely make you live a better life because you know how to make right decisions when you have them. You will not error in making decisions because your decisions are based on the rules and standards that govern your behavior what ever situation you may come across.

My ethics changed when I come to know about the God personally. Human beings are always in search for a set of values that present truth for better living. From personal experience this search is centered in the Bible which God himself inspired as our code standards which we must live by. Christianity is all about setting good example by helping people to shun from situational ethics and live according to the truth which reins what ever situation. I believe if all people lived like me always treating each situation with truth and integrity this world would be a better place to live.
