Research Paper

The implication of technology in the health care environment is the use of procedures, processes as well as equipments with the aim of delivering high quality and efficient medical care. Such technology that have dramatically transformed health care environment include surgical and medical procedures like angioplasty and joint replacements, electronic medical records, medical devices such as CT scanners and implantable defibrillators, telemedicine and information transmission (David  $ McClellan, 2001).

Almost all fields in health care require application of technology and therefore technology changes have drastically improved the health care environment in terms of delivery of services. Spending in health care may decline or increase as a result of technology. However, a general perspective of technology inoculation in health care has been attributed to an overall increase in healthcare spending (George, 2005).

On the other hand, the quality and efficiency of health care delivery has significantly improved. People can receive health care much quicker, efficiently and across geographical regions. Electronic patient information technology is one of the most important innovations that has been able to facilitate delivery of advanced cares for patients in medical institution thus greatly enhancing health care environment (George, 2005). Lower cases of medical errors along with role duplication have been eradicated and medical staff can access timely and accurate information more efficiently (George, 2005).

In today’s practice, the aging service spectrum is an important aspect of health care environment that require the use of advanced technology. With continued rise in life expectancy, it is imperative to highly cherish incorporation of technology in health care environment to enhance delivery of services. Technology is a vital tool in health care that maximize delivery of services coupled with assisting healthy aging across the board.
