Pages: 1

Words: 286

Research Paper

Projects are designed in different sizes depending on the intended needs that they are meant to achieve and this is an important factor in organizing people and systems (Cummings, 2006). Small projects require little organization structure while larger projects involve many people who are required to understand the anticipated roles and obligations in the organization. Project managers in consultancy are obligated to ascertain that the goals of any project are effectively and efficiently achieved. Set deadlines must be honored and restricting the activities of the project within set budgets (Cummings, 2006). The deliverables must conform to the right quality to meet the requirements of the customers.

The project manager has crucial role to play in all existing phases of a system life cycle in addition to the requirement for practical experience in most of the technical environments. The project manager is in charge of managing all aspects of the project (Cummings, 2006). This is achieved through planning as well as leading other people as well as development of project deliverables. The project managers also control the schedule as well as the budget in all the procedures in project management (Cummings, 2006). The project manager must therefore have sufficient skills and experience of handling different phases of system life cycle based on the complexity as well as the size of a project. The project manager takes control of different phases in a system life cycle, the processes involved, controls the teams in the project, address the requirements of a network, its configuration as well customer’s organization (Cummings, 2006). The project manager is also responsible for system planning, technical architect as well as system analyst (Cummings, 2006).
